Positive Solutions for Shared Parenting

Positive Solutions for Shared Parenting is one 4 hour class taught in an educational and interactive format that specifically addresses the needs of parents who are dealing with post-separation conflict.

Positive Solutions for Shared Parenting is designed to build on the skills and information provided in the mandatory parenting class for divorcing parents.

Parents who are already participating in parent coordination or co-parenting counseling will benefit from this class as well as parents who are simply seeking additional strategies for negotiating conflict.

Positive Solutions for Shared Parenting utilizes a variety of teaching methods including videotaped scenes depicting common problem scenarios; demonstration of healthy methods for communication and problem-solving; group discussion; and the presentation of psychoeducational materials.

The goals of the class include:

  • Establishing and maintaining a co-parent role.
  • Understanding the impact of parent conflict on children.
  • Developing a child-focused co-parent perspective.
  • Building effective communication skills.
  • Learning how to avoid conflict or to defuse it when it occurs.
  • Gaining problem-solving and negotiation strategies.
  • Increasing strategies for resolving day-to-day co-parent conflict.

Fee for the class is $125.00 per person ($35.00 per person with certified certificate of indigence). Fee includes a hardcopy or Kindle version of a parenting book provided in advance. Parents are expected to attend separate classes unless both parents agree to attend the same class. If stepparent or significant other attends with you their fee is reduced to $75.00.

Participants must pay for the class at the time of registration. Due to the limited class size, no refunds will be given unless the class is full when your registration is received. Classes may be cancelled for low attendance and refunds will be issued. Parents are encouraged to first attend one of the mandatory educational classes for divorcing parents offered in each county. This class is not a replacement for the mandatory class, but instead builds skills from the information learned in the mandatory class.
